We have a new set of legends at the top for the month of October. Up in smoke Pie finishing for the month at number 7 is our only repeat top 8 finisher, very impressive.
At number 1
we have “Vendetta from clan anarbest”. Doesn’t look like he was too concerned with defense and relied on the tried and tested LavaLoonion attack strategy to get him to the very top of Clash of Clans finishing for the month with 5080 trophies.
Coming in 19 trophies back,
at number 2 is Feyenoord from clan North 44. Another LavaLoonian attacker, Feyenoord defense is a very common layout for town hall 10s. The simple design is deceptively strong with four corners
Heres your number 3.
I apologize, I’m not familiar with how to add Chinese lettering using windows. Our number 3 has a very similar base layout to number 2 but to be honest, I like this layout a little bit better.
The way the base is separated down the middle looks like it could cause problems for GoWipe and GoWi attacks while the defenses added to the four corners should make the base a little tougher to deal with as well. And of course, this is the first time we’ve seen all dragons at the top of the trophy leagues.
The level 5s look pretty bad ass out there. He’s using 2 lightening, 1 earthquake, 2 freezes and a rage spell. My guess is that he takes out one of the air defenses with lightning and quake, swings in with the dragons as a wave to either get at the other air ds or go for the town hall from the weakened section of the base and then freeze-rage his way through the base. I think this strategy is in all likelihood a very reliable 2-star attack for taking down mad town hall 10s.
I hope we see some more troop combinations at this level of the game. I’d also be curious to see how 5 freeze spells would work with the level 5 dragons.
On October 24th, 2015 one thousand plus clashes from 39 different countries met in Helsinki, Finland for the first ever Clash of Clans Convention, ClashCon. Super Cell CEO, Ilkka Paananen, addressed the crowd to start off the festivities. Paananen, very proud of how far the game has come in the 4 years since its release said that his job is to make possible the environment for people to make games. I think we can all agree that Paananen has done a damn good job so far.
He and the Super Cell team seem very excited for the new update as it will be one of the biggest to come to clash and will raise the question: what does it mean to be a clasher?
I figured why not feature a video by the one you-tuber who really should have been invited by Super Cell to ClashCon to give you your low down of what’s coming this winter to Clash of Clans.
Here’s one of my personal favorites, Clash of Clans with Cam, providing some great commentary on Town Hall 11 with some insight as to how the new defense and hero will play into the games meta strategies. Here is your sneak peak. Town Hall 11: bold new direction, ancient technologies, and mysterious magic.
There was plenty of action at ClashCon including the finals of the Clash of Clans live 5 on 5 clan war tournament. The teams in the final qualified from earlier events hosted by Super Cell: Finish Clash, Nordic Clash, Korean Clash, and Tokyo Clash.
The tournament was a wild ride with some great strategies and a few upsets. Glory China 1 dominated the field from beginning to end and was crowned the first ever ClashCon champions.
I love that the game is headed in the E-Sport direction and cant wait to see more of these tournaments in the future. It will also be fascinating to see if the South and North Americans can shake things up next year when some of these tournaments hit our shores.
Glory China 1 ClashCon 2015 Champions.
To Clash or not to Clash? This is a question I will explore over the coming days, weeks and months as the future of Clash of Clans unfolds. It is a question I have given considerable thought to over the past year and a bit since I started playing the game.
There are certainly pros and cons for both sides. More importantly, has Clash of Clans already begun to decline? Or will people still be playing the game 10 years from now?
Clash Con 2015 is only a few hours away. People from many corners of the world will be meeting in Helsinki this October. One of the most exciting aspects of Clash of Clans is that it is a global phenomenon. Clans were battling one another from all over the world.
So what does Super Cell have in store for their fans this October? We don’t have long to wait to find out. Super Cell does not seem like the type to disappoint, something big has been in the works for some time.

On a bit of a side note, for any of the folks curious about the progress et- is making in The Extraterrestrial Challenge here is a shot of the view from space2015-10-23
It looks like the Extraterrestrial village is cruising along at town hall level five just a few short weeks into the challenge. The real test though will be town hall 7 and beyond. How far can et- go with no defense?
Who wouldn’t want to go for ice cream after a clan war win? Nobody feels much like going after a loss though. If those 3-star attacks are proving illusive here are some of the best Clash of Clans strategies that will help you get those perfect scores.
If you’ve read our article for noobs Getting the Party Started: Clash of Clans Guides for Beginners, then you’ll remember Galladon from Clash of Clans Attacks. I was super excited to meet this YouTube clasher at ClashCon. This video covers the basics of taking out Town Hall 8s with level 4 Hog Riders.
The next video was featuring the title says it all: The Hog Rider Bible. This is a bit of a longer video, but you will be hard-pressed to find a more comprehensive guide to taking down town hall 9s with hog riders. Follow Powerband Gamings 5 steps to surgical hogs, and you’re going to see a lot more of those 3-star attacks coming your way.Powerband Gaming did such an awesome job breaking down your best Hog Rider strategy that I thought who better to guide you through one of my favorite attack strategies. Here is your Archer Queen Walk guide with Hogs.
For those brave enough to attempt the max Town Hall 10s here is another gem by Vodka CoC. This is the first place I saw the Archer Queen walk done with all its might.
There you have it. Hog Riders from Town Hall 8-10 with a killer Queen Healer combination. Get these strategies down and you’ll be having your 3-star Haagen-Daz all day long.
Its always a little sad when someone leaves the clan and stops playing the game. I’m not entirely sure the reason why people typically stop playing Clash of Clans. Is it because they’ve just grown board of the game itself and decided to move on? Or is it because the game is no longer fun?
I suppose there could be any number of reasons why people leave. I think however that the main reason most often has to do with fun or enjoyment. If you don’t enjoy playing, why bother?
I think what often happens is that players hit a wall where it has become so difficult to progress in the game that they simply give up. This usually happens around town hall 8, 9 and even 10.
It is especially true if players have rushed too quickly to one of these town halls. Because they don’t have the appropriate level troops attacking town halls at the same level becomes next to impossible and attacking lower town halls is less and less profitable because of the loot reduction penalties the game imposes for attacking lower level players.
The problem is magnified by the fact that higher level players can easily walk through your less developed base and don’t receive any loot reduction because they are the same town level as you.
I honestly believe there is a strategy to overcome this wall. Or at least walk around it. The answer is what I call the Turtle strategy. Turtles use patience to build their village slowly over time.
Essentially, what you will need to do to be a successful turtle is find a solid base layout, pre-build your armies, and most importantly, check in on your village occasionally.
The last step is the most important because if you leave resources in your drills and mines, then when you’re raided by other players they will be stealing much higher percentages of your loot. If however, you collect the resources on occasion and get them into your storages, Raiders will get a much lower percentage.
If you have the game on a mobile device, then this can be done almost effortlessly. I have a turtle account on my blackberry.
It takes about half a minute for the game to load and then, maybe, another half minute for me to collect the resources and make sure my army camps and barracks are loaded up.
All you need to do is check in once and awhile. You can do this while you’re waiting for an elevator, a bus, a beer at the bar or if you’re in line for a coffee. Pretty much any situation you might find yourself in when you need to kill a single minute.
Pre-building your armies is also very important because of its a method for storing elixir. I recommend building heavy troops. If you’re town hall 7 or 8, filling your camps with dragons is a great choice.
If you want to still participate in clan wars, then you’ve already got your war troops ready for action. Or you could always use the dragons for a quick revenge or quick raid.
You just want to make sure you find a big score that will properly compensate you for the heavy cost of your army. I think that participating in wars is the way to go though.
The wars provide you with another source of income and let’s be honest; clan wars are a ton of fun. Not to mention, because you’re pre is building the same type of army you will start to get good at using that particular attack over time.
Your base design is probably going to take you the most time of all, but once you have a good one you don’t really need to switch it around much. The best ways to find a good design are to just Google your town hall level, check out some YouTube videos, take a look at some of the bases in your own clan, or take a peek at some of the games top players bases.
In any case, you want to find a layout that appeals to you and then tweak it a bit to address any weakness you think it might have.
Heres one of the many army compositions you could potentially choose from to pre-build in your army camps. This is a town hall 10 army that is trending in the game right now because of its reliability to consistently 2 star max town hall 10s. I’m sure it could also be adapted for town hall 9 or even 8. This baby is all power, Golems and Wizards, enjoy.
